Improve motor performance; reduce wear on seals and bearings; reduce the cost and frequency of maintenance. MagnaDrive Couplings replace standard Couplings. By installing a MagnaDrive shaft coupling, the physical connection between motor and load is replaced with an air gap. MagnaDrive Couplings may be used for 1 to 1 torque transfer or to vary the load speed rpm from a constant rpm motor. The motor shaft and load shaft are never connected.
Strong permanent magnet technology forms the bases of all MagnaDrive shaft Couplings. The magnets are manufactured in part from rare earth minerals, Neodymium, Iron & Boron (NdFeB). NdFeB magnets have the highest energy product of all permanent magnets, permitting the small size and high torque transmission capability. Two of the most popular pump applications in the industrial sector are 1800 RPM and 3600 RPM pumps. 3600 RPM pumps experience a higher degree of wear than 1800 RPM models, when operating with misaligned mechanical connections. 3600 RPM centrifugals and hot liquid pumps experience significant wear due to expansion and contraction. MagnaDrive disconnected connection technology significantly reduce wear caused by these types of stress wear.
Motor rotation induces an electromotive force between the magnet and copper conductors of a MagnaDrive coupling. The resulting force transfers torque from the motor to the load. The couplings are virtually maintenance free, requiring only an annual inspection that can be performed while the equipment is in operation. MagnaDrive enhances energy efficiency, increases motor life and protects equipment.
